Country Store, USA
This painting was based on a scene from an autumn day at the annual Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, Ohio.
After a few hours of looking at the booths of various vendors, I made my way back to my car, walking on the sidewalk to avoid the crowds on Main Street. As I approached the an old storefront, since closed, I looked up to see the sun shining through the bright yellow leaves of a grand old oak tree and the stars and stripes of the American flag. The visual drama of the scene stopped me in my tracks. The scene spoke to me of the rural, small-town America that I knew in childhood.
