SchoolhouseIn small buildings like this one, generations of Americans learned to read and write. Each day they approached the open door of the school, it was a new opportunity to learn and grow. When I saw this one-room schoolhouse in a preserved Colorado town called South Park City, with its open door beckoning to enter in, I was struck by the contrast between what school was like in the late 19th century — no air-conditioning, no computers, no internet — and what it is like today with all we have available to us.
